There’s been a lot of talk about Animal Kingdom the last few days as it has passed Epcot as the 2nd most visited Disney World park, so I thought I’d write about my favourite rides. I’m not going to include Lion King or Finding Nemo as they’re shows. Also Flight of Passage won’t be in here as unfortunately we couldn’t get fastpasses for it on our last trip and the queues were always 3 hours or more, but I have heard that it one of the best in the whole of WDW!
I’m going to start with my favourite and that’s Kilimanjaro Safaris! I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had slightly changed the story and route that you go along on the Safari so it felt like something new. I love seeing all of the different animals and managed to get very close to a giraffe last time (they’re one of my favourite animals). The Cast Members on the Safari make the trip even better with their oceans of knowledge, and a few (slightly cringey) jokes. It’s also a good way to sit down and get out of the direct heat whilst taking in the amazing scenery Animal Kingdom has to offer.
The next one is Expedition Everest. Although I have been to WDW a number of times, our last trip was the first time I had ever been on Everest as I has always been too scared! I only went on it because I felt bad that my sister was going to ride it solo. I was shaking when I got on and I was shaking even more when I got off (from head to toe!), and I screamed the whole way round! But I thoroughly enjoyed the thrill of the ride and the surprises it had in store. The picture we got from the ride was of my smiling like a normal photo was being taken, I have no idea how this happened as I didn’t stop screaming!
The last of my favourite rides is the Kali River Rapids. It’s a great way to cool off, and a fun ride where you can be with your whole family. The suspense of whether you’re going to get absolutely soaked, and trying to duck away from waterfalls or sprays of water is all part of the fun to be had on this ride. We always laugh of this ride which is what I love!
I would have featured the Na’vi River Journey but, although it is very visually pleasing and beautiful, it wasn’t a ride that I really loved and I would probably be a bit disappointed that it wasn’t longer if I had waited in a long queue. If you can get a fastpass for this ride I would still recommend it. The same goes for Dinosaur- I liked the ride and the story it included but I didn’t think it was as good as some of the other rides. I also think the picture is taken in a weird place as we all looked confused in the pictures!
I would love to hear any of your favourite rides from Animal Kingdom!
